The spirit of the old community lives on in this book. Friends Gwynfor and Jack Davies have a collective knowledge of Penmaenmawr that spans 180 years. Their memories of times long gone, combined with  a number of photographs and historical stories, provide an important record of the North Wales town that grew from its quarry on the mountain into a beach resort that was ultimately cut off by an expressway.

Gwynfor and Jack admit that they could go on and on – researchers know very well that when one memory comes to mind it naturally leads to another. There were so many shops and the town was bustling in those days, and the book reflects their enjoyment and pride in living and working in Penmaenmawr.
